Bernie Mac's reps did all they could to make us think he wasn't on the verge of dying from pneumonia. As late as two days ago they were releasing statements like the following:

Clearly this was a disinformation campaign intended to keep the media off the family. He was dying and people on the inside knew it was a hopeless situation. Now there's no need for anyone to lie - Bernie Mac is confirmed to have died of pneumonia at the age of 50. The final statement:
Actor/ comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. No other details are available at this time. We ask that his family's privacy continues to be respected.
It's sad when someone dies young. Does anyone know how he managed to come down with pneumonia by the way? A guy that age doesn't just catch pneumonia, seems to me. Not that I'm trying to suggest anything...maybe it was just one of those things.
