Paula Out, Britney In?

Could the producers of American Idol be looking to oust judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul - in hopes of replacing one of them with Britney Spears?

It sounds insane, but National Enquirer dirt-slinger Mike Walker insists the plan is being considered. He quotes an AI insider as saying the following:

Ratings this year were the lowest in two years - one week, even House beat it. ... The belief is that things have gotten stale, and American Idol is now "American Idle." They really want to mix things up, create a whole new set, institute format changes - and get rid of Paula and Randy, replacing them with younger faces.

Walker then claims that Britney is at the "top of Fox's wish-list" to be one of those younger faces. Apparently no one at Fox follows the tabs? Because if they think Paula Abdul is erratic and temperamental...

I must confess, I am not an avid watcher of American Idol - in fact, I'm proud to say I've never seen a single episode all the way through. However, I probably - no, definitely - would tune-in if Britney Spears were one of the judges. It would be worth it just to see Simon Cowell's head turning redder and redder and finally exploding. At that point, Britney might actually be hailed as a national hero - the person who finally rid us of that prissy, sadistic bastard Simon.

Of course, it also seems that, if you're going to have a singer as a judge on Idol, they should at least be someone who might themselves have a chance of winning the competition. Britney, I daresay, would probably have trouble getting past the auditions. Has anyone even heard her try to sing lately? All she does at her comeback shows is lip-sync, and even then, she doesn't bother mouthing half the words. It would be exquisite to see some poor wannabe get up there and pour their heart out, and be told by Britney that they weren't any good - only to have them fire back, "Oh yeah? Why don't you come up here and sing it, you no-talent bitch?" Yes, I think I would watch that for free.
