What Is Paris Hilton On?

Sheriff Lee Baca, the man in the middle of the shitstorm over Paris Hilton's now-overturned reassignment from jail to house-arrest, made some interesting remarks today about Paris's mysterious "medical condition." Baca said in his press conference that Paris has "severe medical problems," and that she was on medication when admitted to the jail. The problem, said Baca, was that no one bothered telling the jail staff about Paris's condition. Baca said a medical evaluation was done before Paris was booked, but indicated that Paris and her doctors had said nothing about medication. According to Baca, it was the withholding of this unidentified medication that caused Paris's condition to rapidly deteriorate, leading to his releasing her to house-arrest.

This raises several questions. One, what is Paris on? A guy who works for US Magazine.com was just on with Greta Van Susteren, and he suggested that Paris is actually taking some form of heavy antipsychotic. If this is the case, then for Paris's doctors to not inform the jail would have to qualify as an egregious, even criminal lapse. And even if Paris is on some milder type of psychotropic, one used to fight anxiety disorder for example, shouldn't the jail have been notified of this? It begins to sound like Paris's people are really the villains here - that sheriff Baca was only trying to do what he thought was the right thing, and whoever was responsible for providing Paris's medical information screwed up royally.

But this all leads us to ask another, even more sinister question - did Kathy Hilton, who obviously runs Paris's life behind the scenes, fear the public finding out about Paris's condition, and therefore tell her and her doctors not to say anything about the medication she was on? Was it Kathy's twisted hope that Paris would somehow endure jail without the drugs, thereby preventing their dark family secret from getting out? Obviously, Paris can't hold her shit together at all without whatever she's taking - and even when she's on it, as she presumably was during court today, she is prone to emotional outbursts bordering on the hysterical. Could Kathy Hilton be sick and evil and selfish enough to send her own deeply disturbed daughter to jail without her meds just to save herself some embarrassment?

And what of Paris's lifestyle in general? If she's really as bad off as she appears to be, shouldn't someone try to put the brakes on her activities? What kind of parent would allow their sick kid to run around carrying on the way Paris does?

Somebody is a slime-bag here. Either Baca is for trying to slip some bullshit by everybody about a serious medical condition that isn't serious at all, or Paris's people are for not disclosing her medical issues. Somebody is covering their own ass at the expense of Paris, who, I'm sad to say, is fast becoming an object of sympathy in this case rather than the hated, antagonistic figure a lot of us would like her to be. Of course, it's always possible that, as one clever analyst put it, Paris is suffering from nothing more than a bad case of doesntlikejailitis. Maybe Baca is just a puppet of the rich and famous, and this whole medical condition thing is a lame cover-story someone whipped up, with the complicity of Paris's shrink. Maybe Paris is faking the hysteria. However, can we entirely dismiss the possibility that there really is something wrong with Paris? Given some of her past behavior, would it entirely shock you to learn she was some kind of borderline psychotic who needed heavy-duty drugs to keep from going off the rails? Somebody's lying here - or maybe everybody's lying. There are more dirtbags in this story than any I think I've ever seen with the possible exception of O.J.. And Paris isn't even close to being the biggest dirtbag, which is sort of scary when you think about it.
