Amy Winehouse's friends have become seriously worried about her crazy drinking habits - even going so far as to stage an impromptu intervention at a birthday dinner. But Amy remained her stubborn self and refused to listen to reason. A source told The Sun:
Amy arrived at about 8.30pm and joined four girls. They looked like old schoolfriends rather than showbiz types. It was one of their birthdays so it began all jolly.Amy ordered a vodka and 7-Up and a bottle of champagne and got stuck into both. She didn’t order any food at all. It turned serious pretty quickly. They were huddled around in deep conversation.
At around 9pm, just half an hour after she arrived, Amy got up and left.
Two of the girls followed her outside, but she ran off.
Then one of them started crying. They were going on about how they had "never seen her this bad" and saying she was a total mess.
They were despairing about what to do. One was going, "She needs to get help. We have to keep trying until she does."
It was horrible. Her mates clearly love her and were really worried and upset.
This report comes on the heels of another which had Amy blowing off a concert over exhaution, only to be seen out drinking with her husband Blake Civil-Fielder when she was supposed to be resting. Amy got a lot of heat for this - but Crabbie thinks she should be applauded. You don't see that kind of dedicated drunkenness nearly enough these days. People try to juggle drinking and career and end up being good at neither, but Amy has her priorities straight - she knows she's nothing but a souse, and isn't going to allow her music to get in the way of that. Her friends need to stop with all this intervening and just recognize that it's Amy's life, and this is the way she's chosen to live it. It's inspiring to see someone commit themselves to a goal even when others think it's crazy and self-destructive. So drink on Amy - it's obviously what you were put on earth to do.
