Katie Couric Goes Insane Over Sputum

Table-gnawing little shrew Katie Couric reportedly became so irate with one of her CBS Evening News editors that she repeatedly slapped him - all because the editor had written the word "sputum" into a story about tuberculosis. Couric has tried laughing the incident off as a joke, saying she was only "playfully" smacking her editor Jerry Cipriano, but witnesses say Couric was in anything but a joking mood.

This comes in the midst of speculation that Couric's run as the first solo female anchor of a major network news broadcast may be coming to an end. Bad ratings, and overall plummeting public approval for Couric's increasingly-abrasive persona, have contributed to her dramatic downfall. Once America's Sweetheart, Couric has now become an object of scorn and derision, and clearly the stress has begun taking its toll.

A woman who once had an on-air colonoscopy is grossed-out by the word "sputum."
