Fashion People Are So Hip
The Gen Art 2007 LA Fashion Week kicked off this weekend. Here's an image from the Alms fashion show "installation." What the hell does that mean, "installation?" Oh, I see - it's a way of presenting the fashion without just having models walk up and down a runway. Cause that's so mainstream. This is the Gen Art fashion week - anything called "Gen Art" can't be mainstream. All right, so some dumb model stands in front of a giant "THIN" sign. Gosh, that's so post-modern, in a completely pretentious, lame, arbitrary, ultimately meaningless way. Oh, but of course, they're playing with imagery and clothes in a very synergistic way. It's all about the synergy, don't you know? And finding a nexus between something and something else. And snorting coke in the bathroom between "installations."
