Reports are swirling (cause that's what reports do - they swirl) that Britney Spears' relationship with slimy music producer J.R. Rotem had already progressed beyond the merely friendly before Britney jettisoned Kevin Federline.
"J.R. worked with Kevin on his album and something started going on between him and Britney before she filed for divorce," a source tells Star Magazine.
A second source sticks up for Britney however, saying, "There was definite chemistry between them but Britney waited until after she had split from Kevin."
So did Britney get it on with Rotem before or after the dumping? These are the questions that vex our minds and keep us from being able to sleep at night. Or it could be the Riverdance auditions being held upstairs. One or the other.
Seriously though, I think there is a legitimate story here. Because Britney kind of got the benefit of the doubt from people who thought Federline was just an albatross around her neck - he was perceived as the gold-digging dirt-bag, while she was just the gum-chomping goofball who didn't know any better. Now things like the serial cooch-flashings happen, and her being seen with one greasy bastard after another, and the other various drunken escapades, and we start to think maybe Britney is the one who deserves to be the object of our disdain, even more than Federline who is still a delusional no-talent creep, but next to the new, sleazy Britney, appears practically pristine.
And think about Britney's recent choices in male companions: Kevin Federline, J.R. Rotem and the Crisco-Monster Brandon Davis. Justin Timberlake looks at that list and thinks, "I can't believe I banged a chick who would actually bang those dudes." Lots of people want Britney to get back with Justin, but if I'm Timberlake, I'm staying far, far away from that shit. Being associated with that slut can only cause a down-grade in reputation at this point (and one or two nasty infections besides).
