Angelina's Crumbling Image

Is Angelina Jolie's saintlier-than-thou image beginning to fray around the edges? That's the question posed by writer Caryn James in a new New York Times article, After All That Goodness, A Sudden Fall From Grace, in which Ms. James documents the last several months in the life of Angelina, from the notorious interview where she called her natural daughter Shiloh "a blob," to her and Brad's appearance at the Golden Globes, where she could only be described as regal in her snobbishness (just ask Ryan Seacrest). James, in fair-minded fashion, attempts to put some of Jolie's apparent stumbles in context (she points out that the interviewer suggested the word "blob" before Jolie seized upon it), while at the same time pointing out the overall flimsiness of Jolie's post-wild-child image. Is it all just a carefully-maintained facade, an attempt at transcending frivolousness through the creation of a new, uber-humanitarian identity? Or does Angelina really care that much about all the poor children? Read it.
