Britney Spears' hard-partying ways would seem to have finally caught up with her, as early this morning, at the nightclub Pure inside Caesar's Palace, the pop-star is reported to have collapsed after hosting not one but two New Year's countdowns (how one hosts two New Year's countdowns in the same place without access to a time-machine is something the article doesn't make clear).
Spears, it's reported, was sitting on a cabana bed yakking with some of her dancers around 12:50, then said she wanted to leave and stood, and immediately fell to the floor in a heap. Two of the concerned dancers, and some security guards, then threw a poncho over Britney and dragged her out of the club and up to her hotel room. Further reports say an ambulance was summoned to the hotel around 2am, but it's not known if this was related to Britney or some other situation.
I guess this is what you call a developing story. Unless Britney is up in her hotel room right now sleeping it off. In which case, I guess there is no story. But then, it's always possible Britney got hauled off in that ambulance and had to have her stomach pumped. In which case I guess the New Year has gotten off to a rip-roaring start. Call me icky, but I'm rooting for the stomach-pump.
